For us, a must have for the iPad!ĭer Apple Pencil der zweiten Generation ist zweifellos ein bemerkenswertes Werkzeug für kreative und produktive Anwendungen. I think the price/performance ratio is OK, even if I think that this pen could have been included with the iPad, but that's Apple. It is extremely precise and fine, recognizes the pressure that is being exerted and is also very easy to hold in the hand. Anyone who likes to paint, sketch or take handwritten notes cannot avoid this pen. I just love this pen! It is a pleasure to draw with it. Apple also offers new tips for spare replacement. This is useful when the tip doesn't grip the way it did at the beginning. I find this way of connecting the pen and charging it very practical and well thought-of. it is also very firm when it's on top of iPad. The charging process is quite quick and the internal battery doesn't let you down that quickly. The pen was recognized as soon as it was "docked" to the iPad for the first time. It lies comfortably in the hand and the magnetic “straight line” where the pen is charged doesn't bother me at all. In terms of weight, it is a little heavier than a fine-liner. Would have been nice for the others, of course, but then the question would have been how to charge the pen. Since it is my first iPad Pro 12.9 "(2018), I really don't care whether the pen is backwards compatible or not. If you have any questions/issues let me know. I always suggest method 2 as it not only gives you individualized reporting but it's also the least likely to conflict with a router. In a setup like this, this is the route a DNS query takes:ĭevice -> pihole -> router -> (Upstream DNS set in the Router). If you'd like individual reporting (Method 2) what you need to do is assign the Pi a static IP, turn off DHCP/DNS on your router, enable DHCP/DNS on the pihole, then reboot your router (which should push out the config change to all the client devices). The downside to this setup is that you won't be able to see stats on individual devices all you'll see are queries from the router. In a setup like this, this is the route a DNS query takes: 1.1 (without quotes) into your Web browsers address bar and press Enter to access your Netgear routers administration interface. Most people do not need to fill in this field, but if your ISP has given you a specific host name. To change or turn off a router's DHCP server using the NETGEAR Insight app: Launch the NETGEAR Insight app. (Optional) In the DHCP User Class (If Required) field, enter a host name. On the pihole, you set google's DNS as the WAN DNS. Yes No You can change your router’s DHCP server IP address or turn it off entirely. What you would do is set the (WAN) DNS on your router as the static IP of the pihole. The easiest setup is to setup the pihole "after" your router (Method 1). Google offers animated directions for setting up printers, but the summary is that you need to open your ChromeOS settings then head to Printing. How to print from ChromeOS without Google Cloud PrintĬhromebook users can set up printing the same way Windows or macOS users do-by attempting to print and following the prompts. By November of 2019, Google announced they planned to shut down Cloud Print entirely, which ultimately happened on December 31, 2020. Not every printer supports this, but a bunch do. A lot of people liked that kind of flexibility, so the app took off outside of Chromebook users.īy 2017, though, ChromeOS added a native printing feature, meaning you can set up your printer to work with your Chromebook directly. This meant you could print a document at work from your home computer. Printers normally only work if you're on the same network, but Cloud Print worked wherever you were. Some printer manufacturers offered built-in Cloud Print support, or you could install software on a Windows computer that let you print using unsupported printers.Ĭloud Print did more than just make it possible to print on Chromebooks, though. Cloud Print was basically a workaround, making it possible for Chromebooks to print without the need for Google to add drivers to ChromeOS. This meant that absolutely nothing happened if you plugged a printer into your brand new Chromebook-and that printing over the network also didn't work. In 2010, ChromeOS, Google's then-new laptop operating system, didn't have any printer drivers. Google Cloud Print existed to solve one problem: printing from Chromebooks. The 108-meter-high (354 ft) Littoria Tower (or Lictor's Tower, but now Branca Tower), was meant to resemble the bundles that formed the fasces. Adjacent to the palace, a steel tower-spire was commissioned from Gio Ponti. įor the 1933 Fifth Triennial of Decorative Arts in Milan, Giovanni Muzio designed the Palazzo dell'Arte in Parco Sempione, a museum and theater to host the displays. He then joined forces with engineers Antonio Fornaroli and Eugenio Soncini to form Studio Ponti-Fornaroli-Soncini which lasted until 1945. The construction of the Rasini building (1933–1936) with its flat roofs marked the end of his partnership with Emilio Lancia around 1933. Spacious, equipped and built with modern materials, they met the requirements of the new Milanese bourgeoisie. The ten "case tipiche" (typical houses), built in Milan between 19, were also close to Rationalist Modernism while retaining features of Mediterranean houses like balconies, terraces, loggias and pergolas. By removing all ornament, Ponti moved towards formal simplification where he sought to make style and structure coincide. With the construction of the Borletti funeral chapel in 1931, he started to adopt a modernist shift. He was involved in many projects, particularly in his native city of Milan. The 1930s were years of intense activity for Ponti. Other outputs of the time include the 1928 Monument to the Fallen with the Novecento architects Giovanni Muzio, Tomaso Buzzi, Ottavio Cabiati, Emilio Lancia and Alberto Alpago Novello As he built his first building in Milan, via Randaccio (1925–1926), the Ange Volant was an opportunity for Ponti to experiment with his personal conception of the Italian-style house, the principles of which he gathered in his book La Casa all'Italiana published in 1933. The family Bouilhet who entrusted him with his first architectural commission abroad, with the construction of the Ange Volant (1926–1928, in collaboration with Emilio Lancia and Tomaso Buzzi), a country house located on the edge of the Saint-Cloud golf course, on the outskirts of Paris. On this occasion, he made friends with Tony Bouilhet, director of the silversmith company Christofle. In 1925, Ponti participated in the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, with the porcelain manufacturer. In these years he was influenced by and associated with the Milanese neoclassical Novecento Italiano movement. Ponti began his architectural career in partnership with Mino Fiocchi and Emilio Lancia from 1923 through 1927, and then through 1933 with Lancia only, as Studio Ponti e Lancia PL. Architecture and interior design The Denver Art Museum, 1971 The same year, he married Giulia Vimercati, with whom he had four children, Lisa, Giovanna, Letizia, and Giulio, and eight grandchildren. Ponti graduated with a degree in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano University in 1921. He served as a Capitan in the Pontonier Corps (Corps of Engineers) from 1916 to 1918 and was awarded both the Bronze Medal of Military Valor and the Italian Military Cross. His studies were interrupted by his military service during World War I. Ponti was born in Milan in 1891 to Enrico Ponti and Giovanna (Rigone). His most famous works are the Pirelli Tower, built from 1956 to 1960 in Milan in collaboration with the engineer Pier Luigi Nervi, the Villa Planchart in Caracas and the Superleggera chair, produced by Cassina in 1957. Ponti also contributed to the creation in 1954 of one of the most important design awards: the Compasso d'Oro prize. From 1936 to 1961, he taught at the Milan Polytechnic School and trained several generations of designers. Thanks to the magazine Domus, which he founded in 1928 and directed almost all his life, and thanks to his active participation in exhibitions such as the Milan Triennial, he was also an enthusiastic advocate of an Italian-style art of living and a major player in the renewal of Italian design after the Second World War. He designed a considerable number of decorative art and design objects as well as furniture. ĭuring his career, which spanned six decades, Ponti built more than a hundred buildings in Italy and in the rest of the world. Now, position the post in the desired location, preferably so that the screws used to anchor the post will go through the deck board into a joist. This arrangement should last longer because the railing sectionthemselves are elevated from the deck boards and will dry off quickerafter rain fall. It will give your deck a better looking railing. This method of attaching railing posts to the deck joists is notquite a simple as just bolting posts and 2×2 pickets or balusters to theoutside of the deck’s rim joist.īut it isn’t that difficult either. Is This The Easiest Post Attachment Method? The downside is that the posts will be susceptible to rot over time because of the wood to wood contact. It ismore labor intensive and requires more carpentry skill than a surfacemounted system but is less expensive and price was the key factor forthis client. On this deck, we used an interior notched wood post attachment. Some railings are surface mounted and require additional blockingbetween joists to provide more strength for the post attachment. Now that the deck is framed the next step is start thinking about attaching railing posts. AGS Stainless engineering staff will ensure that your railing meets code to keep you, your friends, and your family safe.DIY Deck Part 11 – Attaching Railing Posts Additionally, the current code requires top rails and handrails to be a certain thickness for preventing bending and providing a safe grip. The majority of states in America follow the IBC and may also have a local deck railing height code that is enforced to stop people from falling over the top rail.Ī deck stair railing code might require a sturdy material like stainless steel for the handrail on your deck's steps. Post spacing for deck railings is regulated to ensure a minimal sideload and baluster spacing is regulated to prevent children from getting their heads stuck in railings. Regulated areas include deck railing post load, vertical deck railing baluster spacing, and horizontal deck railing infill spacing. The main regulation that could result in this kind of situation is the deck railing spacing code. If your railing doesn't meet code, you could have to completely tear out the railing system and pay to have it replaced with one that is compliant. When you sell your home, a building inspector will need to approve any modifications that you made after buying it. The consequences of having a railing that doesn't comply with the IBC could cost you thousands of dollars down the line. With so many options available, it is easy to see why planters can be a great choice for any deck railing design. Some DIY ideas include placing planters next to your outdoor deck railing system, using deck railing hooks to hang your planters, or buying adjustable deck railing planters that can be modified to grip the top rail of your railing system. A deck railing planter box is a rectangular container, but planters come in all shapes and sizes. Planters are decorative containers that can be used to grow herbs, fruits, vegetables, or flowers. The crux of the matter is, I really want to love this game, or more accurately, I really want to love AA's Ratmen figures. But being what it is, it's impressive for any small miniatures company to last more than a few years, let a lone a few decades.Īdditionally, my criticisms are entirely of an aesthetic nature, which is not only subjective*, but comes from an understanding that I am not a sculptor of miniatures, I am certainly not a Golden Dragon-level painter of miniatures, and my opinions are based only on the limited visuals that I have been able to amass from online sources. Money is generally more or less a necessary evil standing in between hobbyists and what they want to do, and I think in a currency-free world we would see in the hobby an explosion of creativity and artistry. Primarily because this hobby is, by and large, a labour of love for all involved modern GW and Oldhammer ebay parasites aside, no one gets into wargaming with money as the primary motivation. I want to start with a caveat here that my sentiments might run a bit into the overly-negative, something I'm always a bit loathe to do in regards to anything about our hobby, especially when it comes to small independent companies. It seems the perfect storm of interest crafted specifically to appeal to yours truly, and yet I've kept my distance. On top of that, being of primarily Scottish descent, I have an inherent love of all things Caledonian, and in the world of Flintloque, the Scots are represented by the Ratmen of Joccia. So, for me, the combination of fantasy elements with Napoleonics pushes all the right buttons. Though I've yet to delve in wholeheartedly, I can see its potential as a future obsession. I've always had a bit of a distant fascination with Napoleonic wargaming. In 1999 AA came under the Alector Ltd parent company, but has more or less had continual operation up until the present day, and Flintloque has gathered a small but solid fanbase. One of their most popular lines focuses around the game of Flintloque, a character-based skirmish games set in a fantasy version of the Napoleonic Wars. Chaz Elliott's line featured the impressive Wererat Champion (5010).Īlternative Armies came on to the hobby scene in 1991, a Scottish company producing a wide range of 15mm and 28mm figures. The Fantasy Sculptor range contains, in my opinion, some of the best "Oldschool" style fantasy sculpts outside of Jes Goodwin's work for Citadel in the 1980s. The aforementioned caveat "sort of" is in reference to the difference between these two lines. In regards to fantasy, Heartbreaker had a main line, the Heartbreaker Fantasy Range featuring the standard parallels of the Warhammer factions, and then a prestige line highlighting the work of named sculpting talents Kev Adams, Chaz Elliott, Phil Lewis and Tim Prow. The story of Heartbreaker is a complex ringwallbilder, but it started quite strong, grabbing a number of (at the time) "prestigious" IP licences, including FASA's Earthdawn (a fantasy RPG set in the pre-history of the fantasy/cyberpunk blend Shadowrun) and Mutant Chronicles (once considered the main contender against 40K). There were a few hobby companies in the early 90s that aspired to capture the Warhammer audience, many of them started by ex-GW employees, but none of them managed to grab the sculpting talent sported by Heartbreaker.sort of. Senior Manager Bob Watts left Games Workshop after Bryan Ansel sold the company, starting Heartbreaker with a mind to compete with GW. |
